The photo above was taken in late March 2024 on the Metzebacher Höhe along the L3304. I was on my way back from the club; the weather was mild for the time of year—dry, with a bit of fog. I’d set the route planner to “super curvy”—which is how I ended up at this hilltop, which I’d driven over a while back in the opposite direction. I stopped for a quick break. And when I saw my Street standing there against the white haze, I knew: This is going to be a black-and-white photo.
I often photograph machines without their riders. Not because no one is there—but because machines tell their own stories. When I got off, placed my helmet on the rear fender, and took a few steps, I let go of everything I was for a moment. The photo captures exactly that moment.
This image has been available as a wallpaper for a few days now—along with two others taken on the street: a row of motorcycles waiting for their riders, and a ravine where a helmet and a motorcycle reveal that someone is out there. For desktop and cell phone. Free.
