To love means to desire the freedom and complete independence of another person. The first act of true love is the complete liberation of the beloved. One can only truly love someone who is completely free and independent, not only from everyone else, but also and especially from the one who loves them and whom they themselves love. This is my fundamental conviction in political, social, and religious terms. It is also my secret driving force, not only in my actions and political aspirations, but also, as far as I am able, in my private life. For the days when it was possible to separate the two are long gone.
